The government's commitment
To make sure the proud legacy of our Anzacs was preserved for future generations, $49.3 million was committed to help share the stories of our servicemen and women and honour their memories through:
- Building lasting legacies—including restoring the State's war memorial Anzac Square, creating the Anzac Legacy Gallery, a permanent exhibition and gallery at the Queensland Museum, and collecting and preserving Queensland’s memories of the First World War.
- Premier's Anzac Prize—provides successful students with a place on a study tour to London and the Western Front. This important initiative is run by the Department of Education.
- Supporting and delivering exhibitions, events, and more—including memorials, displays, commemorative rides, and performances that commemorated the Anzac Centenary.
- Funding for community projects—assisted communities and organisations commemorate the Anzac Centenary and history in their own way.
